Based in London, Select Racing Bloodstock specialises in finding top-class National Hunt prospects, whilst focusing on achieving the best value for our clients.
How we started…
Select Racing Bloodstock was founded by Nathaniel Barnett in May 2013.
Nathaniel started his career in racing with Andrew Balding, helping with the placement of horses whilst also running the Kingsclere Racing Club, whose horses run in the colours of the brilliant 1971 Derby winner Mill Reef. Nathaniel continues to run the KRC, which is now approaching its 10th year.
In 2011, Nathaniel was invited to become Assistant Trainer at the powerful National Hunt yard of Tim Vaughan in Cowbridge, South Wales. The following season, Tim trained over 100 winners for the first time and is now laying the foundations that will provide, in the near future, for a real challenge towards the top of the National Hunt Trainers’ Championship.
Despite leaving his position as Assistant Trainer in 2013 to set up Select Racing Bloodstock, Nathaniel continues to work closely with Tim Vaughan and, through working with Select Racing Bloodstock, Tim has acquired numerous exciting, unraced store horses in the recent months.
What we offer…
Select Racing Bloodstock aims to provide an outstanding service in fulfilling your bloodstock requirements:
Horses In Training
With an extensive knowledge of the form book in the UK, Ireland and France, we are ideally placed to source ‘form horses’, both through the sales and privately. Early examples of these include Let Me In (purchased for £2,500, sold after three wins for £30,000) and Lamool (purchased in France, won £12,000 chase on first start in UK). We have worked with budgets of all sizes, but nevertheless value is a key principle. If you are looking for something specific, please get in touch.
Focusing on pedigree analysis and, once again, sourcing both through the sales and privately, we work closely with several trainers to find potentially top-class National Hunt prospects, predominantly in France but also here in the UK and in Ireland. We are always looking for unbroken yearlings and two and three year olds, with some clients looking to ‘pinhook’, reselling at the summer store sales. Having purchased stores from £5,000 to £80,000, we can find a suitable horse for all budgets.
